In December 2013, the Sisters of Mercy left the town of Strokestown, where ministry had begun in 1891. The energy of the Sisters gave life when and where it was needed and their presence was much appreciated by the local people.

In 2013 the Sisters in Castleblayney, Co. Monaghan marked one hundred years of educational endeavour. The celebrations took many forms and the staff, pupils and parents of Scoil Na gCailini enjoyed a week of festivities.
