Our Work

Westlands

Westlands is a Respond Estate consisting of flats for elderly residents, family houses, and short-term flats. The estate also has 2 mental health units, a play school and a large community centre. The land was donated in the early 1990s and the organisation Respond set about the task of creating the new estate.

In response to a request the Mercy sisters got involved in January 1994. Currently there are two sisters involved, and they live in a flat on the estate. One works with the 40 or so elderly residents while the other has taken on the work of organising and running the short-term emergency flats.
