Pre-postulancy -Miguta
As a preparation for the African Continental Novitiate it was recommended
that there would be a pre-postulancy period of 6-8 months. This started
in Miguta in February 2001.
The purpose of this time of Pre-postulancy is:-
(a) To help the person to grow in human and spiritual maturity
(b) To help her to discern her vocation in the Church.
(c) To help her to make an initial choice.
(d) To ascertain the suitability of the person of the religious/Mercy
way of life.
Postulancy – Ngarariga
On the 31st of January 2003 the three postulants moved to Ngarariga where
we formed the Postulants Community with other professed sisters. The postulants
attend a programme based on Congregational Guidelines twice a week.
Novitiate
In September 2002 it was decided to transfer the 4 novices who were in
Nakuru to Mc Auley house to complete the final few months of their novitiate.
In January 2003 the 4 were professed in the Marianist Chapel in Makadara.
This was the end of the Kenyan Novitiate as we had now broadened the Novitiate
to a continental Novitiate for South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia and Kenya.
In November 2003 the new novices went to the Continental Novitiate in
Nakuru.

well as visits to their communities and places of work.

Purpose of Ongoing
1. To live radically our consecration within the Church.
2. To strive for growth on all levels reaching “the fullness of
Christ.”
3. For ongoing discernment in freedom and fidelity leading to greater
self-giving.
4. To live and constantly deepen the charism in response to the signs
of the times.
5. For continual freshness in methodology and approach to evangelization.
6. To be continually a prophetic sign in the spreading of the kingdom.
