Kibwezi
Here
the Sisters administer 2 dispensaries, Kibwezi and Kambu. Both offer
curative and preventive services. There is also an outreach service
to many surrounding communities. The static units have relatively small
numbers but the outreach is quite busy especially the MCH services.
An NGO,- IMPAC- funds a vehicle and CO for ENT work, and the dispensary
staff are able to link up their outreach work with this vehicle. This
is a big cost saver. Considerable renovations to the dispensary and
staff houses were done in 2003.
In
September 2003 a fully equipped dental unit was opened with the help
of Rotary Sweden and a CO was trained in dental care at Mutomo. The
unit is still in the early stages but is not yet viable in its own right.
