The Sisters in Pretoria are involved in the running of Iona Convent Primary and Secondary School which caters for the children from previously disadvantaged areas of North West province and northern Gauteng. There are up to five hundred pupils in the school.
The Justice Desk for the Province is located in Iona Convent, Pretoria. Action on restorative justice is coordinated from this office and reports in the media of unjust situations are monitored. Economic justice workshops are organised quarterly for the education of the sisters and interested local people.
Mercy House in Capital Park, Pretoria, has been established by the Sisters of Mercy to provide shelter for women and their children made homeless through all manner of violence, abuse and discrimination. These women are given the assistance they need as they attempt to re-insert themselves into society.
Many women rescued from trafficking have been housed safely at Mercy House for the period required to organise their official documentation.
