Young Mercy Friends

The Sisters of Mercy celebrated 175 years in existence in 2006. To honour the occasion and to bring the Mercy spirit into the future, the Sisters of Mercy and the Mercy Associates of the South Central Province are initiating a program for interested young people.

We are endeavouring to create a balanced program to promote personal development of a spiritual and social nature and at the same time passing on everything that is of value in our Mercy heritage.

The program will focus on some core values; Friendship, Time for prayer and the Universe (e.g. Fairtrade, Energy awareness)

We intend to pilot this program in schools where there is a rich tradition of Mercy. Initially the pilot program will run in Carlow and Naas.

Sr. Bernadette O'Rourke is the Mercy Associate Co-ordinator (South Central Province) and Gillian Quinn is the Young Mercy Friends program co-ordinator.

Hi! My name is Gillian Quinn. I am delighted to be involved with the Young Mercy Friends program. As a pupil in St Mary’s College, Naas, I experienced the fantastic Mercy tradition and spirit and I am very excited that the Young Mercy Friends program will help bring that sprit and tradition into the future.

I live in Naas, Co. Kildare, Ireland with my husband Shay and our two daughters; Clodagh and Aoife
