The Year of VocationThis year of vocation, being held by the Irish Church from Vocation Sunday 13th April 2008 to Vocation Sunday 3rd May 2009, will be a time to remind all in the Church that through baptism everyone is called to follow Christ and that we do this in many ways, through marriage, through chosen single life, through religious life, priesthood or brotherhood. April 5th – 6th: Sr. Aine Barrins speaking on the topic of Vocation at all the Masses in National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) in the University Chapel
April 7th: Sr. Aine Barrins hosting a discussion session on 'Vocation to Mercy' with college students of NUIG
April 12th: A number of Sisters of Mercy will be gathering in Clonmacnois to attend the Prayer for Vocation in conjunction with Vocations Ireland
Throughout the year: Prayer Partnership for Leaving Certificate students in former Mercy Schools. Sisters have undertaken to pray daily for a number of students.
April 5th - 6th: Sr. Phyllis Moynihan along with twelve other Sisters of Mercy and a number of priests and brothers speaking on the topic of Vocation at weekend Masses in Limerick Diocese.

April 12-13th: Vocations Sunday - Sr. Phyllis Moynihan will speak at 4 Masses in Shannon Parish, Co. Clare
April 12th: - Night Vigil for Vocations will be held in St. Nessan’s Church Raheen, Limerick. It will commence with Mass at 9pm and conclude at 5.30 am. All are welcome for all or part of the vigil.
April 12th: Mass for Vocations in Carlow Cathedral at 6.15pm followed by a vigil till 9pm.
September 15th - As part of the annual novena in Holy Cross Abbey, Cashel, Co. Tipperary, Monday September 15th will be set aside to reflect especially on our vocation in life. This is an intercongregational event.
October 17th - 19th: Vocation Discernment Weekend. Are you where you want to be? Venue: Glenstal Abbey, Limerick. "Within a calming monastic atmosphere we will reflect on what is happening in our lives and then explore the meaning and the challenge of the Mercy Way". Contact Sr. Phyllis
Throughout the Year in Carlow: A special prayer for Vocations will be said at all Masses throughout the year in the diocese Kildare and Leighlin.
A Holy Hour for Vocations will take place in Carlow Cathedral once a month, on the First Friday, from 8 -9pm.
